Kahului, Maui, HI – March 8, 2018 – Queen Ka’ahumanu Center presents the 2nd annual Fish & Poi, a local-style festival with Maui Poke Challenge on Saturday, April 21, 2018 from 10am to 1pm.
The Maui Poke Challenge contestant applications are now available and being accepted through March 28, 2017. The Challenge will be judged in three categories – Keiki Amateur (age 17 years and under), Adult-Amateur and Adult-Professional. Maui celebrity judging will be based on a point system in the categories of taste, originality and presentation. Prize winners will receive a $100 QKC gift card, a gift card for Ka’anapali Beach Hotel, along with other great prizes to be announced soon.
“We had such a great turnout last year that we had to make this an annual tradition. Maui loves poke!”, says Toni Rojas, Marketing Director. “We have categories for amateur to professional, keiki to adult, so no one is left out. Everyone has a family member or friend who makes great poke, so encourage them to enter. There’s no registration fee and it will be a lot of fun”, says Rojas. “We will even crown the Prince or Princess of Poke!”.
Along with the Maui Poke Challenge Maui County’s ocean-related non-profit organizations, County of Maui and State agencies are welcome to participate with a complimentary booth to outreach and educate the community on their programs. A great entertainment lineup will be announced soon and there will be plenty of doors prizes.
The 2nd annual Fish & Poi Fest is presented by Queen Ka’ahumanu Center along with KPOA93.5FM.
