About Princess Ilona Irvine
Irvine’s move into the forefront of the local music scene has been a long time coming, and she has spent her life preparing for it. She grew up around music, singing in her Church choir. Her father arranged for her to study singing with Melveen Leed, so she grew up around such talent as Leed, Loyal Garner and John Rowles.
Irvine later became affiliated with Loki Obrero Sasil and Mila Rose Kahahawai, who, as the group Leahi, were former proteges of producer Matt Young. Irvine performed and recorded with Leahi, then moved on to Roni “H-Diggler” Yurong’s Hobo House on the Hill label which issued her first Jawaiian, island-style album, “Princess”. Best known for her release in 2009, Island Boy, Irvine continues to perform where her heart is, in various venues throughout Hawai’i. She has had many great influences in her life and believes in respecting one another and life, then all will fall right in to place.
