Kahului, Maui, HI – February 2, 2017 – Queen Ka’ahumanu Center and ‘Ahahui Ka’ahumanu invite all Maui, Moloka’i and Lana’i students to participate in an art contest in celebration of Her Majesty’s 249th birthday.
On March 17 and 18, 2017, Queen Ka’ahumanu Center and ‘Ahahui Ka’ahumanu will celebrate the birth of Queen Ka’ahumanu. In preparation of this momentus event, students from kindergarden to 12th grade are asked to participate by submitting art in any medium 8.5” x 11” in size.
“We are delighted to enhance the celebration of Queen Ka’ahumanu this year by involving our islands students. We are committed to honoring Her Majesty’s legacy through this annual celebration. By creating this student art contest, we are encouraging students to learn more about this powerful Queen and depict her in their own personal style”, says Toni Rojas, Marketing Director. “The ‘Ahahui Ka’ahumanu is one of only four Hawaiian Benevolent Royal Societies. They are committed to the legacy and perpetuation of Queen Ka’ahumanu and we are proud to join them in this educational effort”, says Rojas.
