Hawaii Animal Rescue Foundation Spotlights Importance of Pet Adoptions at Queen Ka‘ahumanu Center
Kahului, Hawaii – Nov. 16, 2016 – Is Rudolph your dog’s doppelganger? Do you and your hound look alike? Are you convinced your pooch has the best holiday costume? If so, enter your dog in the “Santa Paws” holiday dog contests by Hawaii Animal Rescue Foundation happening every Monday at Queen Ka‘ahumanu Center from December 5 to 19. Winners will receive $75 gift certificates to LUANA at Fairmont Kea Lani, and $30 and $20 gift cards to The Pet Shop for second and third place winners, respectively.
Santa Paws Mondays is fun “pawty” featuring holiday-themed contests. The program is created by Hawaii Animal Rescue Foundation and Queen Ka‘ahumanu Center to draw attention to the importance of pet adoptions, re-homing programs, off-island relocation services, volunteer opportunities and to provide safety and training tips.
Contest themes for Santa Paws are:
- December 5 – Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer look-alike. Can Santa mistake your dog for his favorite reindeer?
- December 12 – Twins day. This is an owner-and-pet look-alike contest so put on your best matching ensemble.
- December 19 – Best and most festive holiday costume contest so get creative.
“Pets are important members of our families and we want them to partake in the holiday festivities,” said Toni Rojas, director of sales and marketing for Queen Ka‘ahumanu Center. “We welcome your favorite hounds to spend quality time with you at our Center during our Santa Paws days.”
Contestants must check-in by 5:45 p.m. at the center court. Santa Claus will also be available to take photos with your furry friends!
Fairmont Kea Lani, a pet-friendly resort located in Wailea, is donating $75 gift certificates to the first place winners. The gift certificate is for LUANA, its lobby lounge offering nightly happy hour from 4 to 7 p.m. and live entertainment on Fridays and Saturdays from 7 to 10 p.m.
The Pet Shop is donating $30 and $20 gift cards to the second and third prize-winners. It is located at 230 Hana Highway offering an array of name-brand, high quality food and supplies including housing, food, grooming supplies, pet doors and lighting systems, educational and nutritional supplies. It is the most complete and oldest pet store on Maui.
